Good explanation

Hello everyone,

the Thousand Brains Theory project is becoming increasingly well known. I was very happy for you to see it today on one of my favorite channels on Youtube. Artem Kirsanov’s Youtube channel is mostly about the brain, how it works, how it learns and so on.

The channel’s new video beautifully explains your Thousend Brains theory of how multiple universal cortical columns form a functioning structure. I also found the part about the hierarchical potential through the attention shift of the motor system instead of a physical movement very suitable. See and convince yourself.

Hi @Maggus
Thanks for sharing the video here, it is great! Some really beautiful and intuitive explanations of the Thousand Brains Theory.
It’s a great YouTube channel, we actually have it as part of our onboarding resources for new hires that want to get up-to-speed on some of the crucial neuroscience concepts

You may have already seen this but we just published a neuroscience theory preprint https://arxiv.org/pdf/2507.05888 It talks a lot about how the L2/3 output to L4 of the next higher region can be used to learn compositional models and contains a new view of the role of the thalamus.

@Maggus Thank you! I watched the video yesterday and that is why I came here.

@vclay Thank you for the preprint! In the video, I was especially interested to learn about the entorhinal cortex and the relation between the grids (where) and sensory information (what). Although I suspect that meaning-wise the distinction is actually between How and What. And I am intrigued that this is similarly taking place in the cortical column. What are the best references for that? I have been collecting examples of three levels of awareness, or simply, three minds: an answering mind that unconsciously knows answers, a questioning mind that does not know, thus consciously asks questions, and an investigatory mind (full fledged consciousness) that balances those two minds and selects which to implement. I and my friends have collected almost 300 examples which I curate at Theory Translator https://www.theorytranslator.com

@Maggus, Thank you for posting this video. It is very good! I will try to reach out to Artem to thank him.
