Finding "Monty"

TBP’s claim on “Monty” has a bit of an SEO problem, in that it doesn’t show up in search responses that should include it. In short, finding “Monty” is a hit-or-miss affair. For example:

  • Wikipedia’s disambiguation page for “Monty” does not list the TBP. Indeed, WP’s only mention of the project is located in a bio of Donna Dubinsky.
  • Asking Google about “monty ai” fails to report the TBP’s instance (but “tbp monty” succeeds).

Getting listed in search engines is, I suspect, mostly a clerical task that can be farmed out to a specialist. Getting a WP entry can be more challenging, because of assorted restrictions (e.g., second-party citations, neutral tone), but should still be possible.

Can anyone tell me about the current situation, prospects, etc?

Hey @Rich_Morin,

Good questions!

We’re a fairly new-to-the-internet project so we’re not focused on search engine listings right now. Currently, our strategy is to put out good content and not worry about the search engines too much. Over time we should see our organic placements start to get better.

Re: the wikipedia entry, as you point out, it’s quite tricky getting on there. Any employee of Numenta that added an entry in the past was quickly taken down for exactly the restrictions you mentioned. If someone in this forum want’s to take a crack at it that would be interesting.

Are the previous attempts saved and available (e.g., as Gists)? Do they meet the technical requirements? That might make a great starting point…

It was before my time here at Numenta unfortunately.

In that case, the text is unlikely to be relevant to Monty.

This Discourse group lacks any obvious links to the Thousand Brains landing page (http://thousandbrains.org/); also, that page lacks any links back here. Someone really should address this…

Good point

goes to learn how to update the discourse header

Done!

I’d suggest making some of these items into links, eg:

Connect with us

Stay informed with updates and announcements by following us [how?], subscribing to our newsletter (at right), joining our Discourse group, watching our YouTube videos, and/or attending our meetups.

There fortunately is an option to make them only for desktop. So now it should just be a globe on mobile to get to the thousandbrains.org website.
