While these milestones may seem ambitious and the applications speculative - predicting the future is never an exact science - the milestones themselves are concrete. We’re confident in our ability to reach these key breakthroughs, even as the specific applications and industries they’ll impact continue to take shape.
That confidence comes from decades of research into the neocortex and the core principles we’ve uncovered. We may not know exactly what problems humanity will be tackling when these milestones are met, but we do know what kinds of tasks Monty will be capable of. Brains are good at certain things, and Monty is being built on the same principles - so it will naturally excel at those tasks, and likely more.
